Memorial Day Weekend

I was really looking forward to Memorial Day weekend...I had four days in a row off of work, which I always like, and I always love shopping the sales on holiday weekends. Friday and Saturday I did get some shopping in, mostly for clothes for Katelyn who is constantly outgrowing everything, but during the night Saturday night, Katelyn got very sick. Fevers 102-103.7 and not keeping anything down. I had some leftover Phenergan at home (nausea medicine) so I did the nurse thing and took care of her on my own for a couple of days. By Monday night she was still so sick, so I took her to the urgent care. I actually took her in just because she couldn't keep anything down, but when the doc listened to her left lung he couldn't hear anything so they did an x-ray and half her lung was white (not a good thing). She had IV fluids and Zofran (a nausea medicine) and antibiotics at the urgent care, then yesterday she went to see her own doctor. Got a shot of Rocephin (another antibiotic) and two oral antibiotics to bring home. She is keeping things down fine now but her fever spikes every 8-12 hrs until we beat it down with ibuprofen and acetaminophen (it takes both to get it down). Overall she is doing better, but the doctor said she has to stay home all week and rest. Dr said it will take her about a month to clear everything from her lung, but by next week she should be ok for school. If she worsened we were supposed to take her to Primary Children's, but I think she has improved enough now that that will not be likely. I don't usually freak out when the kids are sick...but I have to admit that this has had me pretty stressed!

Um, yea! I would be freakin' out to! If it were up to Derek we would take the kids in for a hang nail...but I try to hold out and see if things get better. Most of the time they do.
Don't feel bad. You were doing your best! :)
I hope she is feeling much better now.

I'm so sorry to hear that she is so sick. I know all about the fever thing. Did she have pneumonia? Hope she gets feeling better really soon!
