West Jordan Stampede

I have never been to a rodeo before, so when Dave asked me to go to the West Jordan Stampede last night, I was not totally sure what to expect. I guess I have seen a few on TV, but it was fun to go to one live.

In one event, some little kids got pulled around on cowhides by horses...it was a race, so the horses got going pretty quick and some of the kids would fall off. Some were tough like their cowboy dads, others would start crying. I told David we should call DCFS(Department of Child and Family Services). Lol. He didn't think that was as funny as I did.

I have to admit I felt a bit sorry for the poor little steers. Some got wrestled to the ground. Others were getting pulled down with a lasso around their neck---that was bad enough...but then they put another lasso around their little ankle. Sad. : ( Where is PETA when you really need them???

As I watched the events, I felt it takes a special kind of crazy for people to get on top of bucking horses and bulls.

Throughout the night they gave away prizes...they were all marked on pages in the $5.00 program you could buy. At different points in the evening they would tell you to turn to a particular page to see if you had won. When we turned to the city council page...look at what we won!

The American Idol tour concert that we won tickets for is mid-July. Since we will have none of the five kids here, I guess that means Dave and I get to have a date. Too bad, so sad, for the kiddos!!! LOL. Now I can see Adam in his awesomeness *grin* Yes, he is a bit odd, but he has great style and I like his singing. Yay me!

I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment on this Fourth of July to say how grateful I am to live in this great country and how thankful I am for the freedoms that I enjoy every day. I am thankful for those that are willing to put their life on the line to defend America. I hope each of us will take a moment today to express our gratitude to our Heavenly Father for this great blessing. Happy Fourth of July to everyone. God bless America.
