I just got done watching the debate between John McCain and Barack Obama. Here are a few thoughts...
First of all...Tom Brokaw is hot...why did he finally give in to botox or whatever it is that he did? He lost that rugged good-looking thing. Too sculpted now.
This is the first presidential election where it is a month from the election and I am still deciding for whom I will vote. Listening to the debate tonight Barack's skill at rhetoric was obvious. In general I agree with McCain on a lot of the national security issues. I was surprised that they talked so much about that...I was expecting more talk about the economic problems we are facing. I thought Barack had some good thoughts on affordable health care. I am grateful Hillary is not in this election because I can't stand her enough that I would not have voted for her running mate no matter who that was. She bugs.
I really struggle with wondering what the big deal is about drilling in the United States. I learned about supply and demand and what it does for the cost of things in grade school. Didn't everyone else? I mean certainly the environment needs to be a priority, but they seem to think they can do it safely.
Unfortunately, I missed the Vice-Presidential candidate debate. Sort of disappointed about that. I need to find it on the internet and watch it before the election. I know very little about Joe Biden. I have to say as a mother I am offended by Sarah Palin. I don't care what kind of career opportunity comes along...why would someone with a baby with Down's Syndrome and a teenage daughter that will be giving birth ignore the fact that her family needs her and try to take on a life-consuming job like the Vice-Presidency? I have no problem with a female in office...just THAT female. However...I will not make decisions about my voting until I get a chance to watch the Vice-Presidential candidate debate. One thing that would be cool about if Sarah Palin got into office...Tina Fey's imitations of her on Saturday Night Live are HILARIOUS!!!! If you have not seen it you need to go to Saturday Night Live's website and watch some of the video clips (especially the one where Katie Couric is interviewing Sarah Palin...it is a scream!). I mean seriously...if they lose I won't enjoy SNL as much.
I am so interested to hear other people's thoughts on the election and the candidates. Please share your thoughts, no matter which side you support. I love the political process and am grateful to be a citizen of the United States.
One last thought...the Jazz are playing the Lakers tonight...WELCOME BACK, JAZZ SEASON!!!!

McCain looked like he was lost and looking for the restroom. I did not like him wandering around and looking into peoples eyes...it was annoying. To me Obama just seems more real and serious about things. He wants to go about things in a new way. I like that. However, McCain is supportive of the values that I agree with.
?????????????????????????????????????
This is a split house! Derek is very Republican and I am very Independent!!
For along time I was annoyed by John Mccain. It all comes down to this for me. i have to vote republican. The republican party is the only party that will keep any type of values in the United States. They are against gay marriage, abortion, and they are the only ones who seem to still believe we have a constitution. Now, think about this.. Mccain has served in the United States for over 20 years. (something like that, a long time.) Obama has not had any experience in the White House. To me this is like giving a child to roam the streets at night and hopefuly he can find his way back. Obama is going to be so lost. He will be more of a harm to the US than a help. Mccain may be old but he has the experience and what is so wrong with old school? maybe thats what our nation needs is a little moreof the past instead of all the corrupt of the present. We have no values, morals, freedom to believe religiously anymore. as far as Sarah Palin is concerned i commend her. She is a average person. She is not rich and glamorous like the regular politicians. I think its time we have a person who is like us in office. More power to her for raising a family and serving our nation. As far as her daughter being pregnant so what. this happens to alot fo families. Not just politicians. Her daughter has her free agency and she chose to get pregnant. now she has to grow up and be an adult like the rest of us. Her mom can't be expected to be there to raise her child. her baby having down syndrome with bring public awareness and be a living example that even politicians have opposition in their life. We need to stop focusing on the fact that Obama is sexy and young. So What!!! He needs to practice before he runs our country. I'm sure he's a good man but he is not the right canidate for our country at this time. His health plan will never work. Do we really want the government telling us who we have to have as a doctor? And how much are they going to cover when times are really tough? I'm sorry I know that health beefits are expensive but if it's something we need than we have to make a plan to get it. Too many of us work hard and pay our dues. I do not want the government telling me that I can or cannot have a certain procedure. I did that when I was on Medicaid. And yes I am so grateful that I had it at the time, but now I realize how in control the government was with my benefits. SO against it. Obama wahts to pull the troops out of Iraq. It cannot be done the way he wants to do it. We will make so many enemys. Again, no experience in this area. Ok, so I could go on and on with this subject so i will leave it at that. You asked!

Ditto on everything Jenny said. As far as the debate went (it was filled with interruptions for me) I kept thinking Mccain seemed so calm and reassuring while Obama was spouting off almost impulsively. I thought it was very interesting that Obama talked about how much we've spent in Iraq and how this needs to stop and then a few minutes later says we need to help the economies of the UN with financial assistance. I think we need someone with more experience leading our country.
Oh I forgot to mention I totally love the Tina Fey imitations of Sarah Palin! Especially the one with her and Hilary Clinton speaking together. Hilarious!!
