The Circle of Life

When I was a teenager-ish kid, I remember sleeping over at my mom's apartment with a couple of my friends. We were watching MTV (which back then actually had music on it). My mother...a definite child of the 60's/Beach Boys era, came in the room when "California Girls" by David Lee Roth came on and started singing and dancing. It was HUMILIATING. I tell you that for a reason...

There are two game shows that I really like..."Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" and "Don't Forget the Lyrics". Someday I want to take my college roommates and go on that show...I almost always know the lyrics and I wanna win some MONEY!!! Anyway...tonight my game shows were on. The chick that was playing on "Don't Forget the Lyrics" was totally into 80's music (like me). Anyway...between songs, Wayne Brady (the host) was talking to her when all of us sudden you hear a few guitar rifs and in walks Rick Springfield. Oh, mama. Can I just say he is so hot! I had flashbacks of the pinups I once had of him on my walls. Anyway...he plays this oldie, but goodie (couldn't find a clip from the show on You Tube...but this is pretty similar-you may need to pause my playlist in the right column, black box to hear this):

So I sang along at the top of my lungs and swooned over my Rick...oh...and did I mention the girls had friends sleeping over?

Dear Debra,
Part of the job description of being a mother is teaching humility by totally utterly and completely mortifing your children by accident.

Debra,
You have become mom. I love it. I hope the girls will soon forget the trama and grow into somewhat normal adults. Then you can laugh when they do the same things to thier children.
Love you
Rebecca
