After looking at the displays in Kira's classroom, we went to the lunchroom for our pizza, cookie, and drink supper. Then we went to the stage area and watched all kinds of performances from all different age groups of kids. It was fun to watch the cute little kindergartners sing (can't believe that was us 6 years ago!). They also had poem recitations, instrumental performances, and lots more singing.
Kira and a group of her friends wrote a play about not using drugs and alcohol and performed it. Kira played "the nerd" (which she loved) for most of the skit, sporting pigtails, nerd glasses, and a backpack. At the end of the skit, Kira played the mayor (without the pigtails and nerd glasses) and passed out the D.A.R.E. graduation certificates. My camera accidentally stopped part-way through the little skit, so here it is in 2 parts. In between the two clips, you miss a girl getting arrested for underage drinking and smoking.

Part 2:
She really loved doing the skit...we may just have to look into the community theater for more drama fun for her.
You will notice there are no end-of-the-year pictures for Katelyn. I am pretty sure if I tried to take the camera to the middle school and started taking pictures she would kill me. Parents are soooooooo uncool, you know. I am surprised she still walks out with me when I pick her up to take her to the orthodontist!

Is it a little crazy to have a 7th grader (as of next year)?
