Back to School

School is back in session again. Kira had her first day as a seventh grader at Joel P. Jensen Middle School on Wednesday. She was over-the-moon excited. The seventh graders had a half-day orientation Wednesday, then Thursday the 8th and 9th graders came back. The school had about 300 students from another school added to their enrollment because the other middle school was too full. Now the school is over-crowded...some classes with 40-50 students. Katelyn said there are not even enough seats in her science class for all of the kids, so they are going to have to move some schedules around and try to make everyone fit. The joys of the Jordan School District budget mess. Nonetheless, the girls are happy to be back to school and seeing their friends.

I went to the meet-n-greet with the teachers on Wednesday afternoon. Dave was going to go with me so that he could go around and meet one of the girls 8 teachers and I would meet the other, but he was having lots of back pain so I had him stay home and I did it myself. Two hours and all of those teachers later I was so tired I just came home and collapsed on the couch. Thank goodness for children that can cook dinner!

Kira's first day...

Katelyn's first day...

Katelyn has been a great mentor for Kira, coaching her through the transition from grade school to middle school. It is so nice to have them together at the same school again. Sometimes they even get the same lunch hour and can hang out together. I am so glad they are such good friends.
