Our Belated Christmas With the Rest of the Kids

A couple of days after Christmas when Katelyn and Kira were back from their dad's in Texas and Colton, Bryson, and Chey were up to visit, we had the rest of our Christmas.  We love having everyone together.  Here's Colton with his Shakespeare book...

Christmas Day 2012

OK...so in my continuing quest to get caught up on this blog...we have gotten to Christmas 2012 (I am only 6 months behind now...not bad!!!).  For Christmas all we had was our little Maya-boo.  It was a quiet day, but nice.

Like any 2 year old, Maya enjoyed opening the presents...

We got her this little interactive game...it's kind of like a toddler tablet.  She loved it!

Apparently I put the camera on the wrong setting when I tried to get this shot of Maya and Daddy opening a present.  Bummer :(

Daddy made these homemade tamales...made in a muffin tin.  (Thank you, Pinterest.)  They were yummy!

I am pretty sure in the afternoon we went over to Grandma and Granddad Needles' house, but quite frankly I can't remember what I did yesterday, let alone six months ago!  All the more reason to get this blog caught up so that I can stay current and remember some details!!! :)

Ward Halloween Party 2012

We went to the ward Halloween party in October.  Kira was Dead Alice (in Wonderland), Katelyn was Buttercup (one of the Power Puff Girls), I was a nerd in pajamas, and Maya was an adorable little Piglet (from Winnie the Pooh).

Since I was busy chasing Maya around at the church, it was difficult to get many pictures, but here is one from the story room where Maya was listening to a spooky story :)

Happy Second Birthday, Maya!

Maya turned 2 on September 16, 2012.  She is talking and walking and into everything.  Just starting into the "terrible two" attitude, too!  She is so much fun!

This cake was inspired by several different bunny cakes I saw on Pinterest.  Didn't he turn out so cute???

Happy Birthday, Kira!

On August 27, Kira turned 14.  She wanted me to wait and make her cake for her birthday party, so on her actual birthday we decided to do cupcakes instead.

I swear Maya cries EVERY time it is anyone's birthday!  Perhaps she has trouble with the concept of her own mortality?  :)

Kira was very happy to receive a quality hair straightener.  She is definitely a girly-girl type of teenager!

Silver Lake Picnic

Wow...am I behind on this blog!!!  Here are more pictures from when my mom was here visiting in June.  We took mom up to Silver Lake for a picnic (and, of course, David squeezed in a little fishing)...

 

 

Maya was fascinated by the ducks.  Ground squirrels ran around trying to get at our food, which was fun to watch, and keeping Maya out of the water...well, yeah...you can imagine.

Thanksgiving Point

While my mom was here in June we did lots of fun touristy things that I normally never have time to do.  One of the things we did was go to Thanksgiving Point to the dinosaur exhibits to learn about prehistoric life.

This little dinosaur you could take apart and put back together...Maya tried to climb it.

This was probably her favorite part...you could "dig up" little plastic dinosaurs in the sand and water.  That entertained her for quite awhile...good things since Grandma moves through museums much slower than the rest of us cuz she likes to read EVERYTHING!
